Our Journey
Some time ago, while on holiday with my family in my native Apulia, I came across an amazing site whilst driving around this beautiful part of the world, a huge field, filled with Pomegranate trees.
Apulia is known famous for its farming culture, associated mostly with olive trees and vineyards, therefore you can imagine how pleasantly surprised I was to accidentally come across fields of Pomegranates, only 5 minutes away from my childhood home, in the sleepy, traditional Apulian town where I was raised.
I was immediately captured by the beauty of the fruits, admiring the wonderful colors of orange and red among the green leaves of these ancient trees.
Overwhelmed by the colours and smell while walking between this field, I decided that Pomegranates had to be my new adventure, an adventure that I wanted to share with my brother: be part of a new culture that would build prosperity and jobs, that would give a different way to see the world through the wonders of this fertile land, a new opportunity.
And four years later, years of sacrifices and investment, we have completed our first crop. We are blessed to have been able to watch our Pomegranate farm flourish before our eyes, whilst getting to know the farmers on a personal level, learning from them every step of the way.
We would like to express a sincere thank you to all of the local farmers and businesses that have contributed Azienda Maylia, particularly our colleagues that we would now consider friends, at the ‘Agrinsalento Company’ that have helped us in getting to this stage. Through collaboration, hardwork and determination we have been able to successfully produce high quality Pomegranates, spreading over 50 hectares of land.
We are excited about what lies ahead for Azienda Maylia. Maurizio and myself can agree that this is the best thing we have done together, and we are looking forward to collaborating with businesses local, and worldwide to bring our high quality pomegranates to everyone's attention.
